Product Features

2015 Decanter World Wine Awards Silver Trophy Winner Sandeman Porto Late Bottled Vintage 2015 has a deep almost-opaque ruby colour, and an intenseand complex aroma, notable for its ripe fruit and spicy notes such as ginger and cloves. It alsoharbours a woody resin component and aromas suggestive of tobacco box and cedar, as well as afloral rockrose component. The palate is very intense and complex, with high-quality tannins and afine acidity. With ripe red berries, cedar and cloves especially present, Sandeman LBV 2010 delivers a long and harmonious finish. Sandeman Porto Late Bottled Vintage 2015 was made in accordance with Porto's traditionalmethod. Grapes were hand-picked at an ideal maturation stage and pressed. Fermentation tookplace in stainless steel vats under controlled temperatures and was arrested at the optimum pointby the addition of grape alcohol. The resulting wine is naturally sweet and rich, deeply red andfull-bodied, with great aromatic concentration. After the harvest the wine remained in the Douro and was racked for the first time over the winter.During racking the necessary final corrections in alcohol strength and acidity were carried out. Itwas taken to V.N.Gaia the following Spring and entered the traditional Porto Wine maturationprocess, in 640-litre vats, characteristic of the Sandeman style. During this period the wine wassubjected to numerous rackings, analyses and tastings that made it possible to monitor itsageing, as well as to intervene with blendings and corrections whenever necessary. The final blendwas arrived at after rigourous wine selection.
